Meet the Moores and the Lyons
Ron and Linda served as missionaries to the Ivory for two terms. While there, he developed serious eye problems and had to return to the States. After six eye surgeries he was eventually left blind in the left eye. Interestingly enough, however, in his last trip to the ophthalmologist, the vision in his right eye had improved from 20/30 to 20/20. It hasn't been that good for more than 25 years. Indeed, the Lord is good!
After serving in various ministries in South Carolina, Ron and Linda (who were 76 and 75 at the time) moved to Franklin, TN in July 2025, thinking they were retiring. Well, the Lord had other plans for them. The first week in Franklin, they met retired missionary Steve Lyons. The following week, at a Bible Study and Prayer Breakfast, Steve gave Ron a copy of the Narrations book titled, The Story of God and Man. Ron was so impressed with the biblical narrations and the evangelistic approach outlined in the book that asked if he could translate the book into French. Ron's thought was to develop and implement an evangelistic training program for the leadership in Ivory Coast.
That was natural because it matched his heartbeat and reflected his ministry when while serving as a missionary in the country: 1) develop an extension Bible study program for discipleship, and 2) organize and implement a region wide evangelistic outreach ministry with the students in the discipleship program.
Now, back to my question to Steve. Because of his heart for bringing the lost the Christ, without hesitation, Steve enthusiastically said, "Absolutely, use it wherever and however the Lord leads." And my, how He has led!
Ron proposed the project to International Missions (IM) and it was adopted as a Special IMpact Project in December, 2025. It has just taken off from there. So much so that Steve and Ron are not just going to train leaders in Ivory Coast, but from four additional countries as well (Togo, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania)! To God be glory!
Ron and Linda Moore
Steve and Carol were both children of missionary parents who ministered in what was
then the Belgian Congo. Steve and Carol first met at Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya.
After college, they married and added a son and two daughters to the family. Both of them had always had a heart for missions and in 1980 they received a clear call from the Lord. By 1982, they were back in the Congo studying Lingala. They served a three year term planting churches and teaching in a Bible school, having full intentions of continuing their service for the Lord there.
While on home assignment, however, waiting for the Lord to reopen the doors to ministry in Africa, they planted a church in Watsonville, California and then, in another church planting ministry, among Hispanics in Miami, Florida. It was
in Miami where they first learned about the effectiveness of unsing chronological narrations.
After five years in Miami the mission asked them to go back to Africa. This time it was to a new country, Tanzania, and another new language -- Kiswahili. Their last 21½ years in Tanzania were spent as church planting missionaries, with a focus on training believers to plant churches primarily among unreached people groups.
It was during this time that Carol began writing the materials that Steve was using for the biblical narrations. That book, titled The Story of God and Man, became the foundation for the Project 2:2 - Evangelistic Narrations ministry today. If you would like a free pdf copy of this book, just click this LINK.
Both the book and the Project present God’s plan of redemption from beginning to end, from Creation all the way through to the Second Coming of Christ. Today, dozens of missionaries from numerous missions, and hundreds of Africans have been trained in the use of the chronological narrations. They now are available in three languages: Kiswahili, English, and French. A Spanish version is currently in translation.
